Quickie Movie Review

I've watched more movies in the past week and a half than I have in a long time, so I'll just make a quick list of them:

--The Dark Knight: See below. (Remember, I'm a huge Batman fan though.)

--Mamma Mia! : Crap. Unless you like musicals. I don't.

--21 :Excellent movie, a little long, but good.

--Drillbit Taylor :It's decent for a few laughs.

--Charley Bartlett :Makes me think of a modern day Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but thats one of my favorite movies ever so I'll gve this one the thumbs up.

--Lars and the Real Girl :Very strange, but not too bad.

The Dark Knight

This may be a little late, but I can honestly say that The Dark Knight is one of the, if not THE, best movie(s) I have ever seen. I went and saw it twice opening weekend and never once got bored during the second time I saw it. And I'll agree with everyone else in saying that Heath Ledger does steal the show with the Joker, all the way through the movie I was thinking "Man, this guy died way too young." I guess the fact that I am a huge Batman fan also made me somewhat biased to this movie, I remember watching Batman as far as I can remmember. The only draw back: In order to see the movie the second time, I had to tak my wife to see Mamma Mia, and if you get the chance to see that, just go ahead and put a bullet in your head right then and there, trust me.

Cancun

I learned a few things while away:

1. It is Not humid in North Texas. Not even close. Everything was wet, even the clean sheets and clothes. Thats the worst feeling ever, climbimg into clammy sheets, ugh.

2. Be sure to make your destination VERY clear to a Mexican taxi driver, it'll save you alot of time, just trust me on this one.

3. Never let a young guy near a bar when the drinks are free.

4. No matter how humid it was, this place was amazing.

Changes in my life.

I just got back from my honeymoon, which explains my screeching halt of postings, and I can honestly say that I have never been so nervous in my life, but just like in the movies, that all fades away when she starts walking down the aisle and you know right then that you made the right decision. So the we head for Cancun, which was an amazing experience in itself that I will share with you guys later. But it really made take a look at myself and my life. I had forgotten how awakening a
good long vacation can be. You get so wrapped up in work and worries and you don't notice the immense weight it puts on your life until it just about too much to bear and you lose sight of whats really important. So this got me thinking about the husband I want to become for my new wife. I promised myself to always financially support her and our family (whenever that time comes years from now, cross your fingers!), but also to always be there for them, no matter what. My father worked his butt off in the oilfield my whole life, and still does to this day, but he was always there for me,I have no idea how he did it, but I thank God every day that he did. I just hope that I can be at least half the man and father he is.

Anyway, I'm just typing it as I think it. You know, its good to be back, I missed this place.

Back in Black

After trying to improve the look of, but ultimately destroying the disaster known as my original blog, I'll give it another try.
